Mail Services Assistant

Job Summary

The Mail Services Assistant will be responsible for assisting with mail services on a day-to-day basis. This includes receiving, processing, and delivering incoming and outgoing mail and packages.

Job Responsibilities

  • Process the incoming, outgoing, and campus mail as well as shipments via various mail carriers (FedEx, UPS, etc.) according to mail services procedures. Accept, calculate, and apply postage for domestic and international mail sent via the Postal Service and the other carriers’ guidelines (UPS, FedEX, DHL, and other commercial carriers). Sorting and labeling all departmental, interoffice, and student mail.
  • Assist with hiring, training, and supervising student workers.
  • Provide day-to-day support, coordinate the front desk, answer the phone, and other general office duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Preferred candidates must have some college and/or experience working on a college campus
  • Candidate must be able to lift up to 70 pounds
  • Candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to operate office machinery
  • Candidate must possess a valid driver's license with good driving history
  • Candidate must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Must be self-directed, and able to work unsupervised
  • Some weekends and evenings required
  • Strong focus on customer service; desire to work with students
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, and the ability to update various reports
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently
