Lecturer in Education

July 09, 2024

The Education Department and Teacher Preparation Program at Lake Forest College seek a part-time lecturer and fieldwork supervisor committed to anti-racist and culturally-sustaining pedagogies to teach EDUC 422 (cross listed as EDUC 522): Advanced Seminar: Discipline Specific PK-12 Curriculum and Instruction Design (Spanish)

This senior seminar focuses on approaches and methodology in the teaching of PK-12 world/foreign language. Students will explore research-based instructional theories central to world language as a discipline, subject matter-specific ways of constructing knowledge, and specific methods of inquiry and assessment for learning in world language. Students will conduct research on an area of study relevant to the discipline, present content-area demonstration lessons, and construct a culminating unit plan demonstrating best practices for teaching in the discipline. In addition, each student will be assigned two clinical placements: one in a high school for observation hours and consultation with a field-based faculty mentor; and one in an elementary school for a practicum teaching experience with a mentor teacher and a college supervisor (the instructor of the course). Fieldwork supervision includes two observations of student’s teaching in the elementary practicum classroom.
