The Art and Art History Department at Lake Forest College invites applications for adjunct faculty to teach one to three courses in Digital Design Foundations and Digital Photography. There are open course slots for Fall of 24 and Spring of 25. The courses are in-person, and we welcome commuters from Chicago, our college is a short walk from the Lake Forest station on the UPN Metra Line.

Qualifications:

Candidates must have a master’s degree in an appropriate field preferably an MFA in visual arts.

Previous college level teaching experience in relevant courses.

Minimum Required Experience:

2 years of post-secondary teaching preferred.

Competencies:

• Ability to communicate well with faculty, staff and students.
• Ability to teach and troubleshoot Adobe Creative Cloud software.
• Capacity to teach the use of peripheral hardware such as printers and scanners.
• Able to catalyze learning experiences that includes humanistic approaches to a variety of art and design practices.

Our department is a combined Art and Art History program. The curriculum offers three learning tracks: Studio Art, Art History, and New Media Art and Design. Studio students learn painting, drawing, graphic design, sculpture, video, digital photography and more while our students of art history learn how to use visual material in the analysis of society, economics, politics, and religion. 

With the new media art and design (NMAD) major, students can become active participants in burgeoning new fields related to art and design. This degree helps build foundational tools to see design as a holistic and humanistic process and is a pathway to think openly and critically about the world that surrounds us.
