Lake Forest College announced today it is requiring a COVID vaccine for students for the Fall Semester 2021

The College previously announced it is preparing for a fully in-person Fall Semester 2021. To support that goal of learning, living, teaching, and working together, all students (residential and commuter) will be required to get a COVID-19 vaccine in order to participate in the 2021-2022 academic year.

“This step is necessary to protect the health and safety of our community, and will allow us to relax some of the precautions that constrained our experience this spring. As of today, nearly 400 other colleges and universities are also requiring students to be vaccinated this fall,” an email to students stated.

Students who live in countries with no access to a vaccine this summer will be able to arrange for a vaccine to be provided upon their arrival on campus.

The College will accept all vaccines approved by the US and students’ home countries. As with all vaccine requirements, students may request an exemption from the requirement for medical or religious reasons. Exemption requests will be reviewed.

“Just as we have since the pandemic began in earnest in March 2020, we will continue to prioritize the safety of our community. We look forward to all of the privileges everyone will enjoy in the fall with a fully vaccinated student body,” the email signed by President Stephen Schutt, Krebs Provost and Dean of the Faculty Davis Schneiderman, and Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students Andrea Conner stated.
