Information for New Students

Living on campus is a wonderful way for new students to get connected at Lake Forest College.

New Student Housing for 2023-2024:

The 2023-2024 academic year housing contract for incoming first-year and transfer students will be available in May 2023. The priority deadline for completing the housing contract is June 15, 2023. Instructions for completing the housing contract will be communicated to new students as we approach the opening date for housing contracts.

Housing assignments are made based on availability and a student’s listed preferences on their application.  We do our best to honor hall, room, and mutual roommate preferences when assigning residence halls and roommates. Students will be notified of their assignments in mid-July 2023.

Students interested in residential accommodations should review the Disability Services website and the instructions for requesting a residential accommodation. The Office of Residence Life works closely with Disability Services to ensure students with approved accommodations have those accommodations met.

Residency Requirement

The College has a three-year residency requirement, which means that all first-, second- , and third-year students are required to live on campus. Students may apply for an exemption from the three-year residency requirement if they meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Live at home with parent/guardian within 30 road miles of the College;
  • Age 23 or older;
  • Have dependent children;
  • Are married;
