Programmer Analyst
BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY:
The Programmer/Analyst is responsible for analysis, programming, and technical support for the college’s enterprise systems, including the Jenzabar One platform (Jenzabar One Desktop, Jenzabar One Web, and Jenzabar Internet Campus Solution), and the various systems that integrate with Jenzabar One, Slate CRM and other administrative applications running on a variety of hardware and software platforms. Duties include analyzing business processes, identifying need, gathering requirements, and designing, coding, testing, and deploying solutions to support new and existing programs and applications, system integrations, business intelligence, and general system maintenance and troubleshooting. Flexible and remote schedule available.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
System Analysis (20%)
- Consult with clients to gather information about needs, objectives, functions, performance expectations, and input and output requirements.
- Identify and recommend ways to leverage available technological resources to improve functional business processes, address challenges, and/or reduce inefficiencies.
- Analyze needs, design, and implement processes and workflows that promote efficiency and strategic advantage in college operations.
- Facilitate fit/gap analysis for new products, ERP modules, and custom-developed components; work with users to ensure a complete review of the technology against current and changing business processes is conducted, the most appropriate alternative is selected, and the solution is effectively implemented.
Application Development & Support (70%)
- Use accepted application development and project planning methods to design, develop, implement, maintain, and support the college’s major enterprise information systems, interfaces, and related applications.
- Design, code, debug, test, and deploy application customizations, changes, enhancements, and interfaces.
- Test enterprise system enhancements and application and infrastructure upgrades in coordination with users and other technical staff.
- Provide high quality and timely application support, including troubleshooting errors and issues; problem determination and resolution for complex applications or services; and support fixes, changes, upgrades, and related functions.
- Write and maintain clear documentation and diagrams to describe program development and coding, testing processes, installation and operating procedures, maintenance, troubleshooting, and ongoing support.
- Develop and maintain appropriate end-user documentation; provide training to users or technical support staff as appropriate.
- Develop queries, ad-hoc reports, etc. based on analysis or specifications provided.
General Duties (10%)
- Learn new technologies, and continually develop knowledge of existing technologies and systems, in preparation for changing needs of our business systems.
- Maintain a high degree of professional computing competence, as evidenced by continuing professional education, participation in professional meetings, and interactions with peers and users.
- Update and maintain information in the ticketing system, and prepare status, activity, and project updates and reports, as requested.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Supervision is received from the Director of Enterprise Applications.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Student Workers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar field.
- Two to five years of programming and development experience using SQL Server, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
- Technical proficiency with one or more programming languages such as C#, SQL, VB, Java, JavaScript, jQuery, CSS, and HTML.
- Working knowledge of ERP and CRM software applications, client/server software, and enterprise reporting/business intelligence systems.
- Experience using general software development tools, including source code control, issue tracking, and automated testing.
- Experience with report development and report-writing tools.
- Demonstrated ability to work with end users to assess needs, define and document technical requirements/specifications, and propose technical solutions that add value to the business process, department, or organization.
- Proactive, self-directed, and results-oriented, with a high level of internal motivation and the ability to define and execute projects independently.
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with ability to understand the both the “big picture” and the details, and be able to accurately and clearly communicate the relation between both.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Superb time management skills.
- Ability to work with individuals at all levels and build productive and collaborative working relationships.
Desired Skills and Abilities
- Familiarity with the academic and business processes of higher education and the inter-relationships between departments, data, and systems.
- Professional project management and IT certification or training, including PMP or ITIL.
