Lake Forest College invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Athletic Director - Marketing and External Relations

The chosen candidate will support the mission of the College and athletic department, which includes intercollegiate varsity athletics, club sports, intramurals, physical education, and recreation.  The Assistant/Associate Athletic Director will serve as a member of the senior management team for athletics and play a key role in continuing an established Tradition of Excellence in Forester Athletics - one that embraces community collaboration and fosters student-athlete success in the classroom, in competition, as community members, and in career preparation and post-graduate success.

The College sponsors 25 intercollegiate varsity sport programs with approximately 425 student-athletes competing annually. Lake Forest is a member of NCAA Division III, the Midwest Conference (MWC), the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA), the Midwest/Midwest Women’s Lacrosse Conference (MLC/MWLC) and the United States Handball Association (USHA).  The College is an affiliate member of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) for men’s and women’s golf.  Learn more about Forester Athletics.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide leadership for athletic marketing, communication and fan engagement, and community outreach regarding partnerships and/or community service opportunities
  • Ensure success of the Forester Athletic Network (F.A.N. Club), the athletic department booster club, in operations, membership, programming, and fundraising
  • Develop and implement effective communication plans with both internal and external campus stakeholders
  • Oversee and plan various college and department special events and assist with college and/or departmental fundraising initiatives and programs as assigned
  • Manage day to day athletic operations, programming, and events in a manner consistent with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the College
  • Provide administrative staff and sport supervision as assigned
  • Serve as the athletic department liaison with the Human Resources office. Provide leadership and assistance in hiring, training, supervision, and annual evaluation implementation for coaches and staff members
  • Ensure completion of athletic department annual reports and assist with data collection for other College, league, or NCAA reports
  • Foster a diverse and inclusive athletic environment and support strong internal and external communication and collaboration regarding Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives and other matters of student-athlete well-being
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics or Vice President for Athletics and Career Advancement

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required with preference for a Master’s degree
  • Minimum of three years prior experience working in an intercollegiate athletic department environment or related field
  • Highly motivated with effective written and oral communication skills and the ability to deliver information in a clear, concise, and articulate manner to multiple stakeholder groups
  • Proven leadership and management skills, particularly as they relate to establishing and communicating priorities, special event programming, fundraising
  • Proficiency with computers and media, including but not limited to, Microsoft office suite, modern CRM systems, Adobe creative suite, web streaming and social media platforms
  • A collaborative management approach with relationship-building skills, experience building a team, and leading and/or supervising the work of others
  • An understanding and appreciation of a small liberal arts college environment, NCAA Division III athletics, and the importance of campus integration

SALARY:
