Celebrating Marting Luther King Jr.

A variety of events organized by the Office of Intercultural Relations brought the College and community together to celebrate and discuss the legacy of Civil Rights leader and activist Martin Luther King Jr.

The week kicked off with a lecture from keynote speaker Shaun King and concluded with the third annual Diversity and Inclusion Summit at Lake Forest College.

Writer and activist Shaun King delivered an inspiring message to open the Martin Luther King Jr. Week of Celebration with a talk Monday evening.

On Tuesday, the Office of Intercultural Relations offered "Truth Be Told" table talks in the caf as well as an art-making opportunity.

Wednesday night's celebration opened with a moving candle ceremony in Lily Reid Holt Memorial Chapel.

A poetry slam followed the opening candle ceremony on Wednesday.

Many marchers carried signs they created during Tuesday's art-making event.

As part of the art-making event, multiple students made imprints of their lips for a display to honor Martin Luther King Jr. in the Deerpath Student Gallery.

The anonymous display of lip imprints in the Deerpath Student Gallery to represent unity and solidarity in support of Martin Luther King Jr. and Civil Rights.

The soulful Chicago Mass Choir wowed the crowd Friday night during an evening performance that drew campus and community members.
