Moodle 3.11 Quick Start Guide for Faculty

Welcome, faculty members, to Moodle 3.11! This guide will help you get started with using the LMS to manage your courses and engage with your students.

Logging In

Open your web browser and navigate to the Moodle login page. .

2. Enter your username and password.

3. Click the "Log in" button.


After logging in, click on the link to your dashboard. This is your central hub for managing courses and activities.

1. To access a course you're teaching, click on its title or image.

2. To customize your dashboard, click "Customize this page" at the top right.

3. To customize your courses add resources, activities, and sections.

Adding Resources and Activities

1. In your course, turn editing on using the button at the top right.

2. To add content, click "Add an activity or resource" in a section.

3. Choose from options like assignments, quizzes, files, and more.

4. Configure settings for each resource or activity as needed.

Setting Up Assignments

1. Add an assignment activity in your course.

2. Define the assignment name, description, and due date.

3. Configure grading options, including points, rubrics, and feedback.

4. Decide whether to allow file submissions, online text, or both.

Facilitating Discussions

1. Add a forum activity to encourage student discussions.

2. Choose the forum type, such as a general discussion or Q&A.

3. Set subscription and posting options to guide interactions.

4. Engage in conversations and provide guidance as needed.

Managing Grades

1. Use the "Grades" link in the course menu to access the gradebook.

2. Manually enter grades or set up grade calculations.

3. Provide feedback on assignments and quizzes to students.

Interacting with Students

1. Use Quickmail block or the messaging feature to communicate with students.

2. Monitor forum discussions and reply to student queries.

3. Provide timely feedback on assignments and quizzes.

Profile Settings

1. Click your profile picture or name at the top right.

2. Update your profile, preferences, and notification settings.

Logging Out

1. To log out, click your profile picture or name.

2. Select "Log out" from the dropdown menu.
